Future Fund Makes Record-Setting $104k in Grants

Future Fund of Abilene made the largest amount of grants it has ever made in a single cycle, awarding $104,338 to local nonprofits serving children and youth during its 2019 cycle.

This grant cycle also helped Future Fund reach a milestone of $1 million in grants made since its founding in 1995.

2019 FUTURE FUND GRANT RECIPIENTS:

4-Way Ministry Outreach – Support for a neighborhood outreach program for children living in the “4-Way” (South 7th and Corsicana).

Abilene Cultural Affairs Council/Abilene Arts Alliance - To assist with cost of supplies, printing, costumes, and venue rental associated with the Children's Art and Literacy Festival

Abilene Big Country Chapter of AMBUCS - To support the purchase of adapted bicycles and tricycles for special needs children

Abilene Community Theatre – Support for a children’s theatre production of Peter Pan

Abilene Performing Arts Company – Support for studio expansion and summer camp materials

Abilene Philharmonic Association – Support for the Suzuki Early Childhood Initiative

Abilene Zoological Society - To support the DreamNight 2019 event, a special invitation-only experience for families with special needs children to visit the zoo

Advocates for Camp Able – Support for swimming camps for special needs students

Alliance for Women & Children – Support for “Leader in Me” curriculum used in after-school program

Big Brothers Big Sisters - Support for one-to-one mentoring program

Big Country Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) – Funds to purchase new technology and equipment to increase children served

Children’s Performing Art Series – Support for the 2019-2020 live theater performance series

Chorus Abilene - Support for summer Musical Adventure Camp

City of Abilene Recreation Division - Summer Playground Camp: Scholarship Program

Connecting Caring Communities - Support for the “Young Leaders of Abilene” summer camp program

Food Bank of West Central Texas – Support for Backpacks for Kids Child Hunger Program

International Rescue Committee – Funding to create a refugee youth summer job readiness program

Joseph Thomas Foundation – Funds to purchase supplies and services for medically fragile children in Abilene

Junior Achievement - Support for "JA in a Day" program at Lee Elementary School

Keep Abilene Beautiful – Support for 3rd Annual Abilene Outdoor Adventure Day

Kenley School – Funding to purchase new Chromebooks for student computer lab

New Horizons (Audrey Grace House) – Support for programs offered for children residing at Audrey Grace House

Noah Project – Funds to provide summer programming for children residing at Noah Project

Regional Victim Crisis Center – Counseling services for child victims of violet crime

St. John’s Episcopal School – Support for financial aid program (K-5 grades)

The Grace Museum - Summer Art Program at 4 City of Abilene Recreation Centers

Young Audiences - Support for 4 dance and drama after-school programs on 4 Abilene campuses

Young Life – Support for multiethnic outreach program
