CFA Thanks FY18-21 Board Chair

June 09, 2020

CFA is incredibly grateful for the leadership of Yvonne Batts, who has served as our board chair from 2018-2020. As Yvonne prepares to pass the baton to incoming chair Jeff Blanks of the Matthews Office in July, she shares some of what she has valued about her time with CFA below.

by Yvonne Batts, CFA Board Chair

It has been a privilege to serve as chair for the Community Foundation of Abilene Board of Trustees. It is heartfelt to see donors from Abilene and the surrounding area entrust their legacy with CFA to serve as trustee to distribute funds to enrich the lives of so many for years to come.

It has been amazing to witness President/CEO Katie Alford and her exemplary staff, who are compassionate about assuring that donor requests are fulfilled. Here are some of the facets I have come to appreciate about what CFA does for our community and for donors:

Thanks to the generosity and compassion of those donors, students graduate and become the very fabric of our core community. Others are helped to support their families while learning a trade to become a self-sufficient family unit. Other donors' passions are to help provide a strong cultural arts environment for children and adults.

It is amazing to see CFA immediately become the vehicle for Abilenians' overwhelming generous and compassionate donations for those who are affected in times of disaster.

Donors can rest assured that a highly skilled committee of investors ensure the growth of funds are top priority.

Finally, it is has been a humbling experience to serve with the extraordinary leadership of the CFA Board of Trustees. They are sincerely in sync with the mission of Community Foundation of Abilene to empower people to make a lasting charitable impact on our community.
