Staff spotlight: Misti Collier

October 15, 2024

Hi there! My name is Misti Collier, and I am thrilled to be the donor relations director at the Community Foundation of Abilene (CFA)!

I have been on various nonprofit boards and committees for many years and, in those organizations, realized I am the best version of myself when serving others.

After 18 years in the banking industry, I felt a nudge to try something new. The stars aligned, and I had several signs pointing me to CFA. So, I took a leap of faith, and here I am!

Born and raised in Texas, I'm married to my best friend Clay, and I have two amazing children, Ethan and Collyns, and the best dog ever, Rip.

I look forward to providing our donors and nonprofits exceptional service while fulfilling their philanthropic goals!

Q&A with Misti:

What’s your favorite way to spend a weekend?

  • I love gatherings with family and friends that include good food, fellowship, and watching sports! I also love to travel and take trips whenever I can.

If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be and why?

  • I have always wanted to tour Italy because of the rich history it provides. The Colosseum, Vatican City, Pompeii, and The Last Supper mural in Milan are at the top of my list!

Is there a hobby you’ve always wanted to try?

  • Rock climbing.

What’s a cause you feel strongly about?

  • I recently lost my mom to Lung Cancer, which has intensified my motivation to volunteer for organizations that benefit cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers.

What important lessons has life taught you?

  • Lead with kindness and grace; everyone faces a battle you know nothing about.
  • What doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
  • Laughter is the best medicine.
