Coleman County Foundation Hits $1M in Grants Milestone

May 27, 2020

The Coleman County Foundation has reached a milestone of more than $1 million in grants since its founding in 1999!

The Community Foundation of Abilene manages the endowment for this regional foundation, overseeing investments and administering grants. The Coleman County Foundation (CCF) still has its own board and its own grant committee that decides which grants are made each year.

In addition to CCF's annual grant cycle, the Friends of the Coleman County Foundation have their own annual grant cycle. The Friends of CCF is a membership group. Half of members' annual dues support the CCF endowment, and the other half go directly into their grantmaking pool.

The Friends of CCF awarded $20,000 to Coleman County nonprofits during its 2020 grant cycle. Here are the grantees:

Coleman County Firefighters Association – Funds to replace radios and antennas

Coleman County Together (Coleman First United Methodist Church as fiscal agent) – Funds to purchase school supplies for students in 3 Coleman county school districts

Coleman County Youth Activity Center – Funds to purchase a warming tray for events held in the Bill Franklin Center

Coleman County Youth Sports Complex – Partial funding to furnish the concession stand of the new sports complex
