The Community Foundation of Abilene recently awarded $178,704 in grants to area agencies. The following is a complete list of grant recipients for the 
 Spring  2010 Discretionary Grant cycle:

 

Abilene Christian University ($1,000) 
 to help provide awards for the Spring Board Idea Challenge

Abilene Hope Haven ($5,000) 
assist with operational expenses of child care, utilities, and groceries

Abilene Independent School District ($15,000) 
funding for ESL Refugee Interpreter

Alliance for Women & Children ($12,000) 
program support for A-teens

American Cancer Society ($5,000) 
to provide transportation assistance for individuals traveling to and
from cancer treatment

Ben Richey Boys Ranch ($2,000) 
to refurbish administrative building with new paint, carpet, and tile

Center for Contemporary Arts ($3,000)
program support for Artwalk

Christian Service Center ($3,000) 
provide heaters and blankets for the Seasonal Comfort Program

City of Abilene ($9,000) 
provides scholarships for students to attend the Summer Playground program

Da-Cipher 360? ($10,000) 
for educational supplies, meals, printing & copying, and video/audio equipment

Dog Park ($3,000) 
  provide fencing for the Dog Park@Nelson park

Faithworks of Abilene ($10,000) 
food, supplies, curriculum, and emergency case management for students

Friends for Life ($5,000) 
Program support for seniors

Love & Care Ministries ($24,000) 
to replace the roof on a new building

Presbyterian Medical Care Mission ($26,500)
for Women's Health Medical Expansion

Salvation Army ($25,000)
Mass Feeding Program

St. Mark's Baby Room ($10,000) 
to purchase cribs, bedding, highchairs, car seats, and strollers for families in need

West Central Texas Council of Government: Area Agency on Aging ($3,204)  furniture, sound system, and a recumbent bicycle for the Brain Fitness facility

Young Life ($7,000) 
for Volunteer Leader Development
