Todd Moore Memorial Scholarship Fund - Taylor County High Schools, Baird, Clyde, Eula and Robert Lee High School participating in Golf Program Only
This fund honors Todd's memory by providing scholarships to high school golfers needing financial assistance to attend college. Todd was a student at the University of Texas and a member of the Longhorn Golf Team at the time of his death. Due April 1, 2010.

Zach Moore Memorial Scholarship Fund - Coleman and Panther Creek High School Seniors Only
This fund was established by Wayne and Terri Moore of Coleman to honor the memory of their son, Zach, who was tragically killed in a car/train accident in 1992. Scholarship recipients are graduates of Coleman High School or Panther Creek High School. Application due date for each is April 9, 2010.↑

The Chuck and Doris Moser Scholarship - Abilene, Cooper, and Wylie Varsity Athlete Seniors
This scholarship honors the late Chuck Moser and his wife, Doris. Under Coach Moser's direction, the Abilene High football team won state championships in 1954, 1955 and 1956. Coach Moser was known for his high standards for integrity, academic performance and community service. A scholarship is awarded annually to Abilene, Cooper or Wylie High varsity athlete who demonstrates these attributes.

The Tillie Odam Memorial Scholarship Fund - Big Country High School Seniors or students currently enrolled in health care programs at a two or four year college
This fund assists students interested in pursing a degree in a health-related profession. It honors Mrs. Tillie Odam who was the director of Hendrick Hospital's Medical Record Technician School for 24 years. Established by Mrs. Odam's son, John, and her former students, the scholarship award will be determined by the scholarship committee of the Taylor-Jones-Haskell-Callahan County Medical Alliance. Janet Parkey Memorial Scholarship Fund - Abilene High School Seniors Only
This scholarship is awarded annually to an Abilene High School graduating senior who has been an outstanding citizen. The Fund was originally established as the Abilene High Class of 1997 Scholarship, but was renamed to honor Janet Parkey, a long-time teacher and administrator at Abilene High. Due April 1, 2010.

Jesse and Bernice Pyeatt Scholarship Fund - Single Mother - Adult Scholarship Award
This scholarship is to provide financial assistance to deserving single mothers (with custody of a child under the age of 12 at the time of application) who are currently attending or will be attending any local accredited school to attain certification or degree so that she might support her family. The recipient may be a part-time or full-time student.
This scholarship is given every two to four years. If offered in year 2010-2011, the criteria and application will appear here.
Jane A. Rhodes Endowed Scholarship Fund - Members of Young Life - AHS, CHS or WHS Seniors only
Established in 1996, this is a renewable scholarship which is awarded every fourth year. Eligible students are graduating seniors from Abilene High, Cooper or Wylie High Schools who were active members of Young Life and who wish to pursue their higher education at a public Texas university.
This scholarship is given every two to four years. If offered in year 2010-2011, the criteria and application will appear here.
Zach Robinson Memorial Scholarship Fund - Abilene and Cooper High School Seniors
This memorial scholarship fund was established to honor Zach Robinson (1986-2006), a Cooper High School graduate who loved sports, especially golf and snow skiing. This award is available to a graduating senior who has been enrolled a minimum of two years at Abilene or Cooper High and who plans to attend an accredited college or university. Preference will be given to those students who have exhibited a sustained interest in golf and/or choir during their high school years. Due April 1, 2010.
Ginny Michelle Ryan Memorial Scholarship Fund - Wylie and Paducah High School Seniors
Hal and Nancy Ryan established this fund to honor the memory of their only daughter who was a sophomore at Wylie High school at the time of her death in 1993. Two scholarships are awarded annually - one to a senior from Wylie High School and one to a senior from Paducah, Ginny's childhood home. Due April 1, 2010.
Norman and Barbara Smart Memorial Scholarship - Preference given to employees of Abilene Regional Medical Center
To be eligible for this scholarship applicant must be a member of the nursing profession who wishes to improve his/her skills and degree attainment in the nursing profession. The recipient may be a LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) who wishes to pursue an RN (Registered Nurse) degree or may already be an RN who is attempting to complete a BSN (Bachelor of Science, nursing). This is a renewable scholarship up to three years for tuition fees and/or books. Due August 19, 2010
Catherine Aileen Smith-Jones Memorial Scholarship - Taylor County High School Seniors/Members of Holy Family Catholic Church only
This fund was established to honor the life of a young woman who graduated from Cooper High School in 1976, and attended University of Texas in Austin. Cathy had an incredible spirit for life and a remarkable ability to overcome adversity. Even in death, she offered the gift of life through organ donations and tissue for research. This annual award is for members of the Holy Family Catholic Church.

Kim and Jim Snyder Scholarship Fund - Callahan and Taylor County High School Seniors
Established by Kim and Jim Snyder in honor of James R. Reynolds of Texas A&M University. The Abilene Texas A&M Club Scholarship Committee recommends the recipient of this annual award to attend Texas A&M University at College Station. For additional information, contact the Abilene A&M Club (692-6255).

Hal and Jean Stockton Scholarship Fund - Abilene High and Cooper High Seniors only
This fund awards a scholarship to a student attending Texas Tech University. A recipient from each high school is chosen from graduating seniors at Abilene and Cooper High Schools who exhibit academic excellence and ability.

Taylor-Jones-Haskell-Callahan Medical Society Alliance Scholarship Fund -
This scholarship fund was established in the early 1970's as a result of Health Careers Day for students interested in the ancillary fields of medicine. Since that time, the Alliance has continued to support the scholarship cause. The purpose of the scholarships is to encourage Big Country students to pursue careers as physicians, nurses, and other heath care professionals. Yearly awards up to $1,000 are granted. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic ability, character, financial need, and school and community achievements. Applicants must be a resident of Taylor, Jones, Haskell or Callahan County for at least one year and applicants may reapply.

Johnathan Tschaar Memorial Scholarship Fund - Taylor County High School Seniors
This fund was established by friends of Johnathan Tschaar, a sophomore at Abilene High when he died in 1995. This scholarship is presented annually to a Taylor County high school senior who has been an exhibitor at the Taylor County Livestock Show. Due April 1, 2010.

Wes-Tex Drilling Company - Robert B. Cockrell Memorial Scholarship Fund - Taylor County
This Renewable scholarship is available to high school seniors in Taylor County. A preference will be given to students desiring a career involving engineering, science or math. Applicants should read the criteria carefully to verify eligibility.
West Texas Hereford Association Curly Hays Memorial Scholarship - Big Country High School Seniors
This fund was transferred from the West Texas Hereford Association to the Community Foundation. The Association will continue to choose the recipients of the scholarship that honors the memory of Curly Hays, late husband of Jean Hays. Curly was the farm and ranch representative for West Texas Utilities as well as a high school and Southwest Conference football referee. His work with 4-H and stock shows touched many young lives. Preference is given to a student who is a member of the Junior Hereford Association. Due April 1, 2010.
Nicholas Whitaker Memorial Scholarship Fund - Wylie High Seniors Only
This fund was established in memory of Nicholas Whitaker by his friends and family. Nicholas, son of Bill and Bit Whitaker, was a 2002 graduate of Wylie High School and named "Best All-Around Boy" of his class. This annual award will be granted to a Wylie High School graduating senior who exhibits interest and proficiency in theatre and/or choir. Preference will be given to a student who will be majoring in either theatre or music in his/her college studies.

Ruth Hatcher and Joe Williamson Music Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2000 by Ruth and Joe Williamson's loving daughter, Ruth H. (Sugar) Williamson, now deceased, to honor the memory of her parents and their contributions to Abilene's cultural advancement in music and community involvement. This award will be offered every other year to a junior level student at McMurry University enrolled as a music major. The primary consideration in the selection process is to students working toward Bachelor of Music degree or Bachelor of Music Education degree. Secondary consideration shall be given to students pursuing a minor specialization in music. Students interested in this award should contact the Dean of Arts and Letters and request to be considered.
Stanley and Claudie P. Wilson Endowed Scholarship Fund - Designated Big Country Counties*
Stanley and Claudie Wilson established this scholarship fund to assist deserving young people from our area who wish to attend college. Recipients are selected based upon scholastic attainment, financial need and character. This renewable scholarship is awarded every fourth year. *Available to Senior graduates from Taylor, Callahan, Coleman, Fisher, Jones, Runnels and Shackelford Counties.
This award is given every 4 years and will not be available until 2013.Mabel Winton Memorial Educational Fund - Upper Level Graduate Student at HSU Only
Established in 1994, this fund provides graduate scholarship assistance for students returning to Hardin-Simmons University for secondary school certification, preferably in the sciences. Mrs. Winton was a former teacher who understood first hand the value of education.

These three funds were established in 1987 for local students by a generous donor. The financial aid office at each campus identifies students to receive tuition grants.
